How to install Java JDK Java Development Kit on mac.
In Mac OSX 10.5 or later, Apple recommends to set the $ JAVA_HOME variable to /usr/libexec/java_home, just export $ JAVA_HOME in file ~/. bash_profile or ~/.profile.

$ vim .bash_profile
export JAVA_HOME=$ (/usr/libexec/java_home)

$ echo $ JAVA_HOME
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.7.0.jdk/Contents/Home

    The jdk-9.0.1_osx-x64_bin.dmg file should be inside /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines.
    For me "export JAVA_HOME~$(/usr/libexec/java_home)" doesn't work.
    But this works well: "export JAVA_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home)".

    when i am installing java redhat linux on cloud

    tar xvzf jdk-9.0.1_linux-x64_bin.tar.gz

    gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
    tar: Child returned status 1
    tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
